Bringing back the line, expressing the idea. Photography freed us from capturing the appearance of things, the sketch goes for the essence. FiftyThree, in collaboration with Women’s Wear Daily, is live sketching some of the biggest shows at NY Fashion week February 7 - 14, 2013. We brought together diverse talents from computer science, graphic design, fashion, art, industrial design, film and illustration to capture the ideas behind the collections. Our team put this video together in summer 2012, describing some of the design and development process behind Paper. This was part of our entry for the Interaction Awards. How time flies. Last year alone creators spent over 500 years in Paper, up from the 190 years that our CEO Georg Petschnigg mentions in the video.

PermalinkWe recently discovered Colombianisms by Armando Garcia-Jacquier, a sketch journey through the streets of Colombia.
On his blog, Armando says:
I have recently moved to a small city in Colombia, west of Bogota, and while the change has not been easy, I have begun to look for ways to make my transition to this new place more pleasant. Looking on the brighter side of things, I have begun to find the beauty in the peculiarities of this land that is Colombia.
Armando’s colorful creations explore familiar institutions in an unfamiliar place (the juice seller, the ubiquitous snack vendor…), making each one feel like a postcard from a faraway friend.
